The Forever Journey

Last spring when our garden was producing more snow peas then we could harvest efficiently, I cooked up a simple recipe from Food and Wine magazine that featured a fragrant Asian dressing created from an intoxicating blend of Miso, toasted sesame oil, and stoked with fresh ginger.

In pure confession, I was feeling somewhat low on Friday anticipating the emotional and physically demanding run on Saturday morning from the river jetty to G Street in memory of Gray.  Friday afternoon with nothing planned for dinner MP and I went to see “The Hundred-Foot Journey” ignoring the critics, we savored the sweet story and the flavors and colors bursting off the screen.

When we got home, I was inspired to make this insanely fancy mix of oven-roasted tomatoes, arugula with whole-wheat pasta, Giant Green-lipped Mussels tied up in a bow on the platter with Gingered Miso Dressing and garnished with scallions.

—Mysterious divine deliciousness

We may never pass this way again; and so I ran for the 26th time with and for Gray-- putting one foot in front of the other. I patted myself on the back until 10th Street when an army of angels carried me to "G" Street and back to headquarters!  Oh how we miss you Gray…

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—

the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. ---

Hebrews 13:15 NIV

Another August

August; the last weeks of summer

We cherish the waning days as we drift from faded memories to the things of life—

promising Him that we will continue on the journey bearing up—for one another.

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen;

it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

Hebrews 11:1 --NLT
