My niece, Holly and her little man, Wyatt

hosted a wine and cheese party in our home on Saturday.








There was a tasting table...











and a buffet.











I chose three cheeses from Whole Foods Market.















Humboldt Fog.  My favorite Goat with a distinctive ash stripe









Buttermilk Blue from Wisconsin


Ewephoria sheep's milk  from Holland~it's good.









Spicy Lamb Meatballs with Home made Marinara








Ina Garten's Chive Risotto Cakes.









Warm Bruschetta with Gorgonzola.

Roasted Tomatoes & Basil Pasta


  • 1 pound ripe plum tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 bunch chopped fresh basil
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 large cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 Tablespoon Balsamic vinegar
  • Kosher salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 8 ounces penne pasta


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine tomatoes, basil, Parmesan, olive oil and garlic in a shallow baking dish or pie plate. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  2. Bake until tomatoes are soft, about 30 minutes. Stir in balsamic vinegar. Toss with hot cooked pasta and serve with additional Parmesan.
  3. The tomato mixture also makes a delicious appetizer.
  4. Serves 4-6
